Crystal

I started to program a couple of sounds on my newly purchased Z3ta+ softsynth, and then came up with the melody and chords for a short dance track.

Spirou - Crystal
2′37″, 160kbps, 3.0MB

I need to write more music like this. It was both fun and quite easy. Expect more music branded “Spirou”!

Remixed by mindXpander

The first official mindXpander remix is ready - almost. Ta-ta!
I took on a Space Project track called “The Return of Space Raiders” and you can read some info about the remixes in this forum thread. There is an EP to be released in January 2008 so if you want the latest mindXpander creation - get the CD! I haven’t decided on a name for the remix yet and “mindXpander’s Remix” might be a little too cliché - right? Perhaps I’ll go with “mX Remix”. We’ll see.

Sooo…
It’s a bit different (but different is good - right?) from the typical mindXpander sound since I lost almost my complete sound library in a double disk crash a little while ago, but I think I’ve managed pretty good with this one and I’m now ready to take on the mindXpander CD Patrik and I have lined out. I’ll keep you posted on the release of the “The Return of the Space Raiders” EP.

Sound technician and a desk

Last Saturday I was back behind the mixing console when Rogalski/Ström (Swedish site - you’ve been warned) performed a fantastic live show for almost 2 hours without a break. Routine job, but it was ton’s of fun. They’re an incredible live band and even if some songs might sound flat on the album, mixed by yours truly, everything comes to life on stage. It’s pure magic!

I’ve been asked to do a cover for an upcoming tribute to a great synth band as well as releasing an album on the same label. I now got three offers and just need the time to do, well, three albums at once. No pressure ;o) First out will be an album released at Hypersound.

To make everything fit in the small apartment where we live I’ve ordered a Studio RTA mixing desk from Thomann. I can have my Logitech G15 (I have the first version with the flip display and blue lighting) and MX510 on the sliding board, the Clavia Nord Modular G2 right in front of me, my E-Mu Audity 2000 and Roland JV-2080 behind together with the Motu 2408 mk3, the Emagic Unitor8 (being on its last legs since it’s a serial interface) and the Creamware A16 (the none Ultra version). And on top, I can have my Dell 2007FP. I know it’ll be pretty high up, but you can tilt the screen so it’s pointing downwards and since we really lack the space I just have to go with what’s possible.

I hope that I’ll be inspired to produce again when I can have most of the stuff permanently hooked up.

Damaged audio

I spoke to the guys over at Gforce and they acknowledged the error in the Minimonsta manual that I’ve been pointing out in earlier posts. The oscillator octave knobs are not the MIDI CC as stated in the manual, since those assigned to the Delay L and Delay R knobs. You can of course do your own mapping but then it all comes apart since I’ve created a Nord Modular G2 patch for controlling the Minimonsta:Melohman.

When it comes to nice effects, and mostly free stuff, I’ve been acquainted with Audio Damage by a friend. Patrik showed me what Replicant can do and Daniel and Zoria kindly gave me the Fluid plugin as a birthday present. $29 for a fantastic sounding chorus effect - which fills the gap in my chorus effect collection containing UAD Roland CE-1 and UAD Roland Dimension D - is f***ing close to free. Now when the US Dollar is rated pretty low towards the Swedish Krona I gave merely 180 SEK for it .. and I accidentally happened to get Liquid ($29), Vapor ($29 too, as Fluid, Liquid and Vapor all are in AD’s mod effect series) and Replicant ($49) as well. You should do yourself a favour and look them up.

Happy reading!

Last.fm

This is nice. Someone likes my music and scrobbles it at last.fm. Pretorium have got 190 plays, mindXpander have got 1300 plays while Ypsilon 5 takes the gold medal with over 4900 plays. Nice! Fun to see that someone seems to listen to what I produce in my tiny studio. Thanx!

To all listeners; You just made my day! =D
